One person dies in crash near West Columbia

One person has died in a single car crash in Lexington county approximately a mile from West Columbia.

A 2005 Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on Jessamine Road near Orangeburg Drive, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Officer First Class Tyler Tidwell.

The vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck an embankment. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt, said Tidwell. The accident remains under investigation.
