Lanes of I-20 East were blocked for a while Tuesday, at the 59 mile marker due to a crash. A pedestrian in the road was struck by a vehicle.
The person hit was transported by EMS to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The initial collision involved several vehicles, according to Cpl. David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The person that was hit was walking away from the initial crash and was struck.
By the afternoon the lanes of the interstate were being reopened.
